INGREDIENTS:
1 pack firm tofu
1 egg
a sprinkle of garlic powder
2-3 green onions
3-4 cloves garlic
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp sesame oil
1tbsp korean chilli flakes
red pepper flakes
1 tsp cornstarch
4 tbsp water
DIRECTIONS:
Drain, pat dry and cut your tofu up into 1/2” pieces. Can be square or triangle depending on your preference.
In a small bowl, beat 1 egg with a sprinkle of garlic powder.
Add tofu into a large mixing bowl. Pour egg mixture over top and carefully fold tofu into the egg.
Chop green onions and separate whites and greens. Mince garlic.
To another small bowl, add in 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp oyster sauce, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 1 tbsp Korean chili flakes, a sprinkle of regular red pepper flakes, 1 tsp cornstarch, 4 tbsp water. Mix until well combined.
*Korean Chili Flakes are not spicy, it’s more so used for color. If you don’t have Korean chill flakes, you can sub for regular red chili flakes. Just sprinkle in to taste depending on your spice level. You can also omit if you don’t like spicy food!
To a large skillet, heat pan on high heat. Add in avocado oil. Once hot, add in tofu, making sure all pieces are laying flat against the pan. Let it sear for about 1 minute until golden brown. Flip and repeat on other side.
Remove tofu from pan onto a clean plate.
To the same skillet, add a touch of avocado oil, minced garlic and the white parts of the green onion. Mix around until golden.
Pour in your sauce and immediately mix. It should start to thicken from the cornstarch. Mix for 20-30 seconds.
Add in your tofu and mix to combine in sauce. Sprinkle green onion over top and serve with white rice.
