Gordes Provence Itinerary

To Stay: We stayed at Airelles Gordes Bastide and it was one of the most beautiful properties we have every stayed at. Unfortunately for us it rained almost the entire time we were there so we did not get to enjoy their iconic pool. It’s definitely a “go once and never again” type of hotel for though since the interiors were very traditional, princess-in-a-castle vibe and not necessarily our style of choice and we found Gordes to be beautiful but very quiet with not many things to do. The service and attention to detail at the hotel was immaculate. We have never experience service at a hotel like this. There was complimentary breakfast buffet every morning. There are also 2 restaurants on the property but we found it to be very overpriced for mediocre food which was disappointing. I would love to experience their other properties, the St Tropez one being top of my list!

*We rented a car and used it pretty much everyday to explore other towns in the area.

To Eat/Drink:

  • Le QG de Gordes - incredible hidden restaurant the concierge recommended us! We got the clam pasta and it was incredible. The owner of the restaurant is a character and fun.

  • Le Tigrr - loved this place for sunset cocktails on their patio. The reviews for the restaurant weren’t great so we didn’t dine here.

  • La Bastide de Pierres - Italian restaurant in town. Was very popular! We went on our last day and got pizza and pasta to break up all the French food we were eating and it hit the spot.

To Do:

  • Marché de Gordes - every Tuesday morning, there is a market that opens right in town (steps away if you are staying at Airelle’s) and it’s really cute to walk through. We found a vendor with a man that sold fresh baguette with sausage and it sounds super bland but it was incredible and probably one of our favorite things we ate during our time there. There was also an incredible knife vendor with tons and tons of all different kinds of knives - we bought so many!

  • L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue - this town is super cute, we just walked all over and explored all the different stores. There are lots of home decor/trinket stores in this town and I fell in loveeeee. There’s a cute cheese shop here too called Maison Moga for a midday glass of wine and cheese post shopping. The man (might be the owner) was super sweet and very passionate about his cheeses. There’s a little grocery attached to it as well. We had lunch at Au Chineur as well and it was solid (get the strawberries and cream it was amazing).

  • Aix-en-Provence - another town that has a lot of stores and shopping. This town has more clothing stores and bigger brand names like Hermes. Worth walking around here as it’s very cute! We popped into La Meduse for a class of wine!

  • Gordes overlook - i’m not sure what it’s called but it overlooks Airelle’s and it’s on Route de Moines. Just follow where you see people stopping and looking. The view is breathtaking, so peaceful and beautiful. You can’t believe it’s real life because it looks like postcard. Photos and videos don’t do it justice!
